While it is true that law firms and their lawyers ultimately face the risk of malpractice claims, ethics violations and bruised relationships with clients, law firm support staff can play an important role in helping avoid these unfavorable situations. With that goal in mind, this session addresses several key risk management issues involving support staff, including lawyers' supervisory duties over staff, confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege, social media use, well-being in the legal profession, conflict-of-interest trouble spots, and reporting rogues.

​Chester D. White, RPLU, ARM

Chester D. White, RPLU, ARM, is Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Aon's Professional Services Group. He is based in the New York office of Aon, where he manages its midsize law firm team. He consults with and represents law firms in regards to risk management and the placement of their professional liability, employment practices liability, management liability and cyber liability insurance. Before joining Aon in 2006, White worked in the general property and casualty industry as an account executive and program manager. He attained a bachelor's degree from Vassar College and holds the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.

Matthew Corbin, JD

Matthew K. Corbin, JD, is a Senior Vice President with Aon's Professional Services Group. As a member of Aon's loss prevention team, he consults with more than 275 law firm clients on a wide range of professional responsibility and liability issues. Before joining Aon in 2013, Corbin was a Partner with Lathrop Gage LLP in Kansas City, Missouri, and Overland Park, Kansas, where he handled commercial, business tort, employment, construction, insurance, professional liability, and regulatory matters. Corbin earned his bachelor's degree and JD from the University of Kansas.

Jennifer Finnegan, JD

Jennifer Finnegan, JD, is a Senior Vice President with Aon's Professional Services Group. As a member of Aon's loss prevention team, she consults with more than 275 law firm clients on risk management, professional responsibility, and legal ethics issues. Before joining Aon in 2018, Finnegan was first a litigation Partner and then General Counsel at Herrick, Feinstein LLP in New York. She has more than 20 years' experience as a litigator and over 12 years of experience in defense of professional liability claims. Finnegan earned her JD from Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey.

Mark Webster, JD

Mark Webster, JD, is a Vice President with Aon's Professional Services Group. As a member of the group's loss prevention team, he consults with Aon's law firm clients on a wide range of professional responsibility and liability issues in an effort to identify and minimize the risks threatening law firms. Before joining Aon, Webster was a Partner with Lathrop Gage LLP in Kansas City, Missouri, where he handles real estate financing and purchase transactions, commercial leasing, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate formation and governance. He earned his JD from Vanderbilt University Law School and his bachelor's from the University of Kansas.
