    The live lessons will be held on Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Central Time. These lessons will also be recorded for on-demand access.

    This course requires that participants purchase The Big Book of HR by Barbara Mitchell and Cornelia Gamlem.

    Meet minimum course requirements and earn credits towards your CLM application or recertification requirements:

    • CLM Application: 2 hours in Writing Skills, 1 hour in Communication Skills
    • CLM Recertification & Functional Specialists: 18 hours in HR

    The Association of Legal Administrators is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. This program has been approved for 6 PDCs.

    Course Requirements

    Course Instructor

    John Jakovenko, CLM, MBA, is the Firm Administrator at Spark Law. His career spans two decades and includes leadership roles in human resource departments in law firms in Los Angeles and Atlanta. He is also an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University, teaching courses on human resources.

This course takes a deeper dive on Human resources issues and builds upon items discussed in our HR 1 course. Included are case studies, lectures, readings and assessments to maximize your knowledge base and enrich your problem-solving skills. Termination procedures, employee handbooks, training, motivational techniques, incentives, and substance abuse are covered. Upon completion, you should be able to anticipate and resolve a variety of human resource concerns.

    Instructions

    • Pass this exam with a 70% or higher in order to receive the Legal Management HR Specialist Certificate. 
    • While you are not timed, the exam must be completed in a single sitting. If your computer times out from inactivity, your responses will not be saved. 
    • Correct answers will not be shared afterward. You will only be able to view your score. 
    • If you do not pass the exam, a page will display with directions describing how to retake the exam. Since the exam can only be retaken once, please take time to review the materials from both HR courses as the questions on this exam are only based on items covered in those courses.
