This session will focus on the presence and prevalence of addiction and mental health issues in the legal profession. The discussion will include topics such as dealing with depression and anxiety, as well as handling addictions including alcohol, illicit and prescription drug use, gambling and technology. Learn about the prevalence in and potential harm to individuals, firms, and society at large. Ethical considerations will also be presented.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and discuss the prevalence of substance abuse and mental health issues in the legal field.
- Discover various process addictions and how they interact with substance abuse and mental health.

Eric Webber, MA, CADC, CSAT/CMAT, CCS, CCPG, is Senior Behavioral Health Therapist and Legal Professionals Program Coordinator at Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, Pennsylvania. He provides direct care through specialty lectures and counseling sessions focused on relapse, addiction interaction disorders, work/professional related issues, and other targeted needs. Webber is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Clinical Supervisor and holds a Certificate of Competency in Problem Gambling, all through the Pennsylvania Certification Board. He is also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. He holds a master’s degree from Alvernia University.
