Today’s lawyers don’t have the skills or support they need to practice efficiently and effectively. They struggle just to keep up, leaving no space to enjoy their practice, find fulfillment in their work, focus on their growth and development or enjoy life outside of practicing law. They are overwhelmed, unhappy and leaving firm practice. However, lawyers can learn the crucial missing skills needed to take back control of their time and priorities so they can succeed in practice without burning out. Law firms and their leaders who proactively support their lawyers in building these skills are well-positioned to stand out, leading the industry in well-being efforts’ associate retention, recruitment, support and development. It also creates sustainable change to the burnout-inducing culture of the legal profession.
Objectives:
• Discover why it’s so hard for lawyers to get clear on their priorities and manage their time well.
• Summarize the four steps for lawyers to take back control of their time and priorities to reduce their burnout in a sustainable way.
• Plan how to support the lawyers in your firm.
• Examine why law firm efforts to support well-being, reduce burnout and increase lawyer retention usually fall flat.
• Recognize the benefits for law firms who invest in developing unfrazzled lawyers.
